Jackass Ridge
The view from the Jackass Ridge property toward the Sierra Crest.
Truckee Donner Land Trust permanently conserved 110 acres on Jackass Ridge, located above Highway 89 just south of Truckee in the summer of 2025. The protection of this property preserves mixed conifer forests, small seasonal streams with riparian habitat, and wildlife corridors connecting the Sierra Crest above with the Truckee River below. It also protects the viewshed from Truckee and along the Truckee River. Jackass ridge is home to immensely popular trails - the Donkey Town Trail network - owned by the Tahoe National Forest and maintained by the Truckee Dirt Union.
HOW TO GET THERE
From Truckee, head south on Highway 89 toward Lake Tahoe. Just after the intersection with West River Street (traffic light) parking will be on the west side of highway 89.
