Give from Your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, you can take advantage of Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) – also called Individual Retirement Account (IRA) rollovers. Your QCD creates investments in conservation.

Give Stock
Transferring stock is an easy and savvy way to support the landscapes you love. When you donate appreciated securities directly to the Land Trust, you can potentially avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value.

Give From Your DAF
Donor advised funds can be a more tax and cost-efficient alternative to a private foundation. DAFs act like a personal fund dedicated to your philanthropic goals managed in one place.

Matching Gifts
Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage charitable giving. Some match donations of spouses, retirees, and part-time employees as well. Search for your employer!

Volunteer Grant Programs
Your employer may offer grants for your time while volunteering with the Land Trust. Many organizations award volunteer grants for both active and retired employees. Search for your employer!

Give Through Your Paycheck
Give purpose to your paycheck with automatic donations. Thousands of companies offer payroll giving programs that allow you to donate automatically from your paycheck. Search for your employer!

Donate Your Vehicle
Have a car you no longer need? The Land Trust partners with CARS to accept donations of cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, motorhomes, trailers, boats, and many other types of vehicles.

Make a Charitable Bequest
A charitable bequest left to the Truckee Donner Land Trust in your estate can help ensure the Sierra is available for all to enjoy forever. Review your options and the sample bequest language provided.

Give Real Estate
Donating appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, or undeveloped land can make a great gift to the Land Trust. You may be eligible for a tax deduction based on the fair market value at the time of the gift.

NOTE: Starting in 2026, nonitemizers get a deduction for making charitable cash gifts up to $1,000 ($2,000 for married couples). Gifts to donor advised funds (DAFs) are excluded.

MEMORIAL OPPORTUNITIES

Memorial Benches are not currently available for recognition/sponsorship on any Land Trust properties, nor will they be available for the foreseeable future. Any memorial bench or other recognition requests not associated with a land acquisition campaign will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the Land Trust.
